Bedugul & Munduk
Misty lakes, floating temples and waterfalls in Bali's cool highlands
About Bedugul & Munduk
High in the hills of north-central Bali, Bedugul is known for Ulun Danu Beratan — the lake temple whose tiered shrines appear to float on the water — along with strawberry farms, a botanic garden and the twin lakes of Buyan and Tamblingan. The air is fresh, often misty, and a welcome change from the coast.
A little further on, the village of Munduk is surrounded by clove and coffee plantations and some of the island's prettiest waterfalls. Combine the area with the UNESCO-listed Jatiluwih rice terraces and the Handara gate on a full-day tour, or stay a night among the clouds.
