Bali's international airport
Ngurah Rai International Airport — often called Denpasar airport — sits on a narrow strip of land between Kuta and Jimbaran. It handles direct flights from across Asia, Australia and the Middle East, and connecting flights from Europe and the Americas via hubs such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Doha and Dubai.
- Singapore → Bali: about 2 hrs 40 min
- Kuala Lumpur → Bali: about 3 hrs
- Bangkok → Bali: about 4 hrs 15 min
- Perth → Bali: about 3 hrs 30 min · Sydney → Bali: about 6 hrs 30 min
- Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo & major Chinese cities: 5–7 hrs direct
Arriving at the airport
After landing, you'll pass the Visa on Arrival counter (skip it if you bought an e-VOA online), immigration, baggage claim and customs. Complete Indonesia's digital arrival declaration online before you fly — you'll be given a QR code to show on arrival. Allow 45–90 minutes to exit at busy times.
The international arrivals hall is crowded with drivers holding signs. If you've booked a private transfer, your driver will be waiting with your name and can help you buy a local SIM card or withdraw cash first.
From the airport to your hotel
Official airport taxis and ride-hailing pickups are available, but Bali traffic can be heavy, especially in the late afternoon. A pre-booked private transfer is the most relaxing option for families, late-night arrivals and anyone heading to Ubud, Canggu or Uluwatu.
- Kuta & Legian: 15–30 min
- Seminyak: 30–45 min
- Nusa Dua & Jimbaran: 20–30 min
- Uluwatu: 40–60 min
- Canggu: 45–70 min
- Ubud: 1–1.5 hrs
Arriving by sea or from Java
Ferries cross from Ketapang in East Java to Gilimanuk in western Bali, and fast boats connect Bali with Lombok and the Gili Islands. Domestic flights link Bali with Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Labuan Bajo (for Komodo) and other Indonesian cities.
