Visa on Arrival & e-VOA
Citizens of many countries — including Australia, the UK, the USA, most of Europe, Japan, Korea, China and India — can get a Visa on Arrival for a 30-day stay, extendable once for another 30 days. You can buy it at the airport or, to save time, online in advance as an electronic e-VOA through Indonesia's official immigration website.
Citizens of several ASEAN countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, can visit visa-free for up to 30 days. Rules change regularly, so always check the official source before travelling.
Bali tourist levy
Every foreign visitor entering Bali pays a one-time tourism levy of IDR 150,000 per person (children included). Pay online in advance through the official Love Bali website or app and keep the QR code — it may be checked on arrival or at major attractions.
Passport & arrival declaration
- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from arrival, with blank pages
- Carry proof of onward or return travel
- Complete Indonesia's digital arrival card (immigration, customs and health) online shortly before your flight
- Keep a digital copy of your hotel booking and travel insurance
Customs & local rules
Indonesia has very strict drug laws. Duty-free limits apply to alcohol and tobacco, and e-cigarette liquids may be restricted. Respect the Bali Tourist Code of Conduct: dress modestly at temples, don't climb sacred trees or structures, and never ride a scooter without a licence and helmet.
